PIERCING

Tragus Piercing

A tragus piercing is a type of ear piercing that involves perforating the small, triangular-shaped flap of cartilage located directly in front of the ear canal opening. The tragus piercing has gained popularity for its versatility in jewelry choices and its ability to enhance the overall aesthetics of the ear.

We recommend visiting a high-end boutique piercer like RBI Tattoo for a professional experience, supportive guidance, high-quality jewelry, a clean and sterile environment, and advice on piercing aftercare.

Getting the piercing

Our piercer will mark the spot on your tragus where they will insert the piercing.

The anticipation of the piercing is much more than the pain of the piercing itself. That being said, you should expect a small pinch and shock as the piercing gets inserted.

After getting your tragus piercing, you should wash the area twice daily with a saline solution to take care of it. Avoid submerging your healing piercing in pools, hot tubs, standing water, etc.

Jewelry ideas for tragus piercings

  • Hoop: A tragus hoop, also known as a captive bead ring (CBR), is a circular ring that passes through the tragus piercing. It creates a unique and stylish look, and you can choose from different sizes, thicknesses, and decorative beads or charms.

  • Barbell: A tragus barbell is a straight piece of jewelry that goes through the tragus piercing, with a decorative end on one side and a removable ball or flat back on the other side.

  • Stud: A tragus stud is a classic and popular choice for tragus piercings. It consists of a straight barbell with a decorative end on the front, which sits flat against the tragus, and a removable ball or flat back on the other end.

Jewelry materials

Gold: Gold jewelry is a timeless and luxurious choice for tragus piercings. It comes in different karats (purity levels) such as 14K or 18K, and a variety of colors including yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold.

Titanium: Titanium is another widely used material for tragus piercing jewelry. It is lightweight, durable, and biocompatible, meaning it is much less likely to cause irritation or allergic reactions.

Niobium: Niobium is a hypoallergenic metal that is often used for sensitive piercings, including tragus piercings. It is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and available in a range of vibrant colors through anodization.
