Eyebrow Piercing: Jewelry, Healing & Aftercare
An eyebrow piercing is a versatile facial piercing that can be styled from subtle and minimal to bold and expressive. Because eyebrow shape, tissue depth, and anatomy vary from person to person, proper placement and jewelry selection are important. Our professional piercers will evaluate your anatomy, discuss the look you want, and recommend placement and jewelry that work best for you.
Eyebrow Piercing Placement
Before piercing, your piercer will evaluate the area and mark the placement so you can review the position together. The angle and location of an eyebrow piercing are determined by your individual anatomy rather than using the exact same placement for everyone.
Because eyebrow piercings are relatively close to the surface of the skin, proper placement and appropriately fitted jewelry are especially important. Your piercer will also discuss factors such as movement, pressure, and your lifestyle that may affect healing.
Jewelry for an Eyebrow Piercing
Eyebrow piercings are commonly started with a properly fitted curved barbell. At Red Baron Ink, we use high-quality implant-grade titanium and solid 14k or 18k gold jewelry.
Initial jewelry is selected based on your anatomy and sized to accommodate normal swelling during the early stages of healing. Once swelling has subsided, your piercer may recommend downsizing for a more appropriate fit. After the piercing is fully healed, additional jewelry and styling options may be available.
Eyebrow Piercing Healing
Some initial tenderness, swelling, mild bruising, or light crusting can be normal during healing. Although the piercing may begin to look healed on the outside, the tissue inside can still be fragile, so avoid changing jewelry prematurely.
Be mindful of anything that may snag, pull, or put pressure on the piercing, including clothing, towels, hair, hats, skincare products, and makeup. Excessive friction and movement can irritate a healing piercing and may contribute to migration or prolonged healing.
Eyebrow Piercing Aftercare
Wash your hands before touching your piercing and otherwise leave the jewelry alone as much as possible. Gently rinse the piercing with sterile saline wound wash containing 0.9% sodium chloride and dry with a clean disposable product.
Do not twist, spin, or rotate the jewelry. Avoid alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, harsh soaps, ointments, and homemade salt mixtures. Keep makeup, skincare products, lotions, and sprays away from the piercing while it heals.
If your jewelry needs to be downsized or adjusted during healing, have the change performed by a professional piercer.
