Nostril Piercing Placement
Before piercing, your piercer will evaluate your nose and mark the placement so you can review it together. Placement can be customized based on your anatomy, facial features, personal preference, and the type of jewelry you may eventually want to wear.
If you’re considering paired nostril piercings or have plans to wear a hoop once healed, let your piercer know so those goals can be considered when planning your placement.
Jewelry for a Nostril Piercing
At Red Baron Ink, we use high-quality implant-grade titanium and solid 14k or 18k gold jewelry. Initial jewelry is selected based on your anatomy, placement, and the space needed to accommodate normal swelling during healing.
Once your nostril piercing is fully healed, you can explore additional jewelry options, including decorative gold and gemstone pieces and, when appropriate for your piercing, hoops or rings. Our piercers can help you choose jewelry that fits properly and complements your personal style.
Nostril Piercing Healing
Some initial tenderness, swelling, mild redness, or light crusting can be normal during healing. Even when your nostril piercing begins to look or feel healed on the outside, the tissue inside may still be healing, so avoid changing the jewelry prematurely.
Be mindful of anything that can snag, pull, or put pressure on your jewelry, including towels, clothing, makeup, skincare products, glasses, and sleeping positions.
Nostril Piercing Aftercare
Wash your hands before touching your piercing and otherwise leave the jewelry alone as much as possible. Gently rinse the piercing with sterile saline wound wash containing 0.9% sodium chloride and dry with a clean disposable product.
Do not twist, spin, or rotate the jewelry. Avoid alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, harsh soaps, ointments, and unnecessary skincare or makeup products around the healing piercing.
If your jewelry needs to be downsized, adjusted, or changed during healing, have the change performed by a professional piercer.
